What happened in June

What lovely weather we have had in June. Saying that I now see it is beginning to rain on this the 28th.

Well it certainly wont dampen our successful month. We started with having a 2nd degree in the temple and the candidate was paraded around the lodge to a very high standard ritual which was performed by the various brethren. In particular the Senior Deacon Bro Tim Caldwell,  the full long version of the 2nd degree working tools by W.Bro Rod Walsom and the Charge by W.Bro Peter Joel. Followed by a brilliant Festive Board.

As usual the whole proceedings was brought to a very high standard by the Worshipful Master Brother Kevin Green.

 White Table Night

Worshipful Brother Hunter organized a white table evening to be held at Gandy Street on 20 June 2014.

The idea being an ideal opportunity for not only wives of members and new members and their wives in particular but also for members friends who may well interested in joining our society.
29 people arrived in Gandy Street in the evening and after a very pleasant 4 course meal the Worshipful Master Kevin Green welcomed everyone especially wife’s and guests. After the meal we were all asked to join W.Bro Mike Saffin in the temple where he would explain some of the history of St Thomas Lodge but also a little bit about what goes on during our meetings……not to much though. First he suggested that the brethren sit in the seats they would normally sit in during the meeting. Worshipful Brother Mike then informed the brethren and guests a little of what went on during the meeting, a short history of the St Thomas Lodge and of also Gandy Street which has been the center in Exeter for Freemasonry for over 200 years

The end result of this really wonderful evening was that everybody with out exception enjoyed it and various comments were made including how much more informed they are now about Freemasonry.

We are also pleased to announce that one of the guests who was inquisitive about Freemasonry is now exceedingly keen to join the brethren as early as possible and as a consequence will be a candidate next year 2015.

It is the first time that St Thomas Lodge has had a white table evening and judging by how successful this one was I’m sure we will hold another one next year.

On the 21st of June the Cadogen Court Annual Fair took place.

20140621_102945St Thomas Lodge traditionally host and organize the bar and this year was no exception. Our thanks goes to Bro TIm….. for organizing the sweat shirts. Which were taylor made  to include our motto. Thank goodness he didnt want us to wear the trousers that he was wearing! (See photo).

We had a very successful day which was not only helped by the weather which was gorgeous but by the number of people who attended. I cant say about the other many stall holders but we at St photoThomas Lodge sold out of the 2 real ales we had plus the Pimms went very well partly due to the huge quantity of fruit put into the drink as expertly cut up by W.Bro Sean Thoms.
